Open Canoe One person Self Rescue

Ben Brierley teaches the Dartmouth UK club how to self rescue a canoe. Ben makes this look so easy. None of us were really able to repeat his super empty canoe when we tried it. He is quite strong, and of course has done this lots of times.

A bailer is critical if one boat is paddling alone, whether with one person or two.

Maybe practice will produce a better result for the rest of us.

Getting back in requires one to stick ones head right down inmto the canoe. Again we really struggled to repeat his slick demo. Hand positions on the canoe are critical before you leap in.
